3.2 VOLTS DC 80MA CIS SOLAR CELLS - TEMPORARY SPECIAL!!!!
- Product SKU: TS801
- Product Name: 3.2 VOLTS DC 80MA CIS SOLAR CELLS - TEMPORARY SPECIAL!!!!
- Manufacturer: SHELL
These are thin-film Copper Indium Diselenide (CIS) solar cells. Recent production, first quality, made by a major solar manufacturer. 60mm x 60mm x 2mm thick (2.4" x 2.4" x .08") The active semiconductor material is deposited on the front of the glass, tinned ribbons are bonded to the edges, then the whole cell is covered with clear tough plastic to protect the cell and ribbon.
They are environmentally protected and ready to use. You just solder to the ribbon and mount them in your project.
The cells put out about 4.5VDC open circuit and about 100MA short circuit. Maximum power of the ones tested is about .25 watt (80MA at 3.2VDC). CIS is the most stable and rugged of the thin film solar technologies and is about twice as efficient as amorphous silicon. It is more efficient under cloudy or partial shade conditions than crystalline silicon. CIS is also radiation resistant, and therefore often used in spacecraft applications.
You can connect them in series for more voltage and in parallel for more current. These should be good for walkway lights, battery charging, remote instrumentation or data loggers, educational projects and other DC electrical applications. Unlike amorphous silicon panels, CIS panels do not degrade due to sunlight exposure. In fact after at least 2 hours of exposure to sunlight of at least 1/2 standard intensity, the output will increase by about 10%. With the first exposure, the semiconductor material is annealed and the output is then stable at the higher level. (This is called light soaking).
